BUILT TO OUTLAST EVERYTHING

BlueCube™ C2 Cold Plunge Tub

WHY MERIDIAN LOVES

BlueCube

BlueCube is not a wellness brand that added a cold plunge to its lineup. It's a cold plunge company — full stop.

Every engineering decision, every material choice, every design refinement they have made exists for one purpose: to build the best cold plunge on the market and stand behind it completely.

That singular focus is exactly why we chose them.

When we evaluated cold plunge companies for our MERIDIAN SystemS, we applied the same standard we hold for every component: does this company specialize in this, or is this simply a product in a broader catalog? BlueCube passed that test immediately — and then kept passing every one that followed.

Built by hand in Redmond, Oregon, BlueCube has never been a wellness brand with a cold plunge in its lineup. They are a cold plunge company — and that singular focus shows in everything they make. Their construction standard, their engineering decisions, and their warranty coverage all reflect a manufacturer that builds with complete conviction and stands behind what it makes without exception.

Every unit is engineered to a commercial standard from the ground up — not adapted for commercial use after the fact — making the BlueCube one of the only cold plunges on the market that performs identically whether it is installed in a private residence or a professional wellness facility.

Three things set BlueCube apart from everything else in this category. First, their 14-gauge 316 marine-grade stainless steel construction — built 30% thicker than the industry standard and finished with a Line-X® coated frame rated for permanent indoor and outdoor exposure in any climate. Second, their proprietary RiverMode™ flow system — active, full-body water circulation at three intensity levels that transforms cold exposure from passive temperature contact into a genuine physiological event.

Third, their 3-year bumper-to-bumper residential warranty covering components, plumbing, electrical, labor, and shipping — with an optional lifetime extension — reflecting a level of manufacturer confidence that no competitor in this category has come close to matching.

Construction & Materials:

Handcrafted in Redmond, Oregon, the C3 features commercial-grade construction

The C2 elevates the tub interior to 316-L marine-grade stainless steel at 14-gauge thickness — a meaningful and deliberate material upgrade from the 304 steel used in the C1. The grade difference is significant in a cold plunge context. Standard 316 stainless adds molybdenum to the chromium-nickel alloy of 304, which dramatically increases resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and chloride attack — the specific types of corrosion that are accelerated by cold water, ozone chemistry, and the mineral content of tap water over years of continuous use.

The "L" designation in 316-L means low-carbon, which further improves the steel's resistance to sensitization — a form of corrosion that occurs at weld seams when carbon precipitates out of the alloy during high-temperature fabrication. In a welded stainless steel tub, 316-L ensures that every seam, corner, and weld point has the same corrosion resistance as the flat plate material, eliminating weak points. 316-L is the recognized standard for marine hardware, medical implant manufacturing, pharmaceutical processing, and any application that requires sustained corrosion resistance in chemically active environments.

The C2 tub walls are described as extra-thick, providing structural strength and thermal mass beyond what the 14-gauge specification alone delivers. The interior is contoured at a 20-degree ergonomic slope, bringing bathtub-style ergonomic geometry into the cold plunge form — so the client settles into a naturally supported, reclined position rather than sitting rigidly upright, which reduces muscle tension during sessions, allows for longer and more consistent immersion, and contributes to a more comfortable and repeatable daily protocol. Interior dimensions for the Standard 60" configuration measure 60.0" L × 24.0" W × 21.25" H, and the XL 66" configuration measures 66.0" L × 24.0" W × 21.25" H. The C2 is suitable for users up to approximately 6'4".

The C2 frame shares the same marine-grade plywood core and Line-X® 16-mil polyurea exterior as the C1, with the same structural philosophy and weatherproofing standards. What differentiates the C2 frame architecturally is two things: its wider footprint and its end deck configuration. The C2 frame measures 92.5" L × 43.5" W × 28.5" H for the Standard 60" tub, and 98.5" L × 43.5" W × 28.5" H for the XL 66" tub — the additional width (43.5" versus the C1's 37.5") is a function of the end deck, which is a built-in platform positioned at the end of the tub that provides a comfortable and natural stepping surface for entry and exit, a surface for accessories or equipment, and an architectural element that gives the C2 a more complete, finished presence than a tub-only unit.

Where the C2 frame program significantly expands beyond the C1 is in its wooden deck options. BlueCube hand-selects and finishes premium hardwood decks at their Oregon facility, available in walnut, mahogany, white oak, white maple, and cherry. These are solid hardwood decks crafted and finished to a furniture-grade standard — not veneer overlays or composite wood products.

The wood top fundamentally transforms the visual character of the unit, shifting it from a wellness appliance into an architectural object that belongs in a designed space. Custom frame finish options include any Sherwin-Williams color in Line-X®, the ability to order the frame prepped for on-site cladding (sanded and moisture-sealed to accept tile, travertine, marble, cedar, or any architectural finish applied by the client's contractor), custom CNC-cut logos in wood, laser-engraved stainless steel panels, powder-coated screens, foot pegs, and reverse plumbing/vent configurations for non-standard installation orientations.

The C2 insulation system parallels the C1 — marine-grade plywood frame as a natural thermal buffer, Line-X® 16-mil polyurea coating as a continuous weatherproof and thermally resistive shell, and an insulated spa cover with child locks included standard.

The extra-thick tub walls of the 316-L stainless interior also contribute a greater thermal mass than the C1's standard walls, meaning the water temperature is more stable and recovers more quickly after a session adds heat load. The end deck configuration of the C2 also means the cover sits over a more completely enclosed tub opening, which improves the seal between the cover and the tub rim for better heat retention when not in use.

The C2 uses pool and spa-grade Schedule 40 PVC in 1"–1.5" diameters, hand-insulated throughout, and pressure-rated for high-flow, high-pressure operation. The larger 1.5" primary plumbing diameter in the C2 is specifically sized to support the higher volumetric flow rates demanded by the dual-pump RiverMode™ Plus system — two pumps each moving 25.6 gallons per minute require plumbing that can handle that combined flow without restriction or pressure loss.

The same accessible mechanical layout as the C1 makes all components serviceable by any licensed plumber or pool and spa technician without specialized training or proprietary tools.

The C2 meets and exceeds commercial-grade standards across every metric. It is rated for up to 100 plunges per day, sustaining 11–15 plunges per hour while holding water temperature within 4°F of the set point across consecutive sessions. The 1.5 HP commercial chiller provides greater thermal recovery capacity than the C1's 1 HP unit, making the C2 more capable of handling sustained heavy use in a commercial context.

The BlueCube commercial flow rate for the C2 is specifically cited at 26.5 gallons per minute for rapid cooling and filtration, meeting DOH-compliant standards for regulated high-traffic environments.

The Commercial Upgrade Package for the C2 includes AOP or automated chlorine drip sanitation, a commercial-grade integrated skimmer for continuous surface debris capture, alternative non-metal tub materials, and complete DOH documentation and build sheets for health department approval across most jurisdictions.

Chiller & Temperature

Handcrafted in Redmond, Oregon, the C3 features commercial-grade construction

The C2 is equipped with a 1.5 HP commercial chilling motor rated at 13,600 BTU— a full half-horsepower more than the C1's chiller, with a correspondingly greater cooling output. The chiller features precision outdoor-rated compressors and is engineered specifically to maintain stable set temperatures under sustained consecutive use and in cold ambient outdoor conditions.

BlueCube uses Balboa chillers across the C-Series for their proven industry reliability, strong service network, manufacturer warranty support, and seamless integration with the Balboa SpaTouch 4+ control system. The C2's larger chiller is the reason it can reliably hold set temperature through back-to-back sessions in a commercial or high-frequency household context — the additional BTU headroom means the system is not operating near its maximum output during heavy use, which extends component longevity and performance consistency over time.

34°F–104°F

The C2 offers the widest temperature range in the residential C-Series. The cold floor of 34°F is colder than the C1's 37°F floor, providing access to the most aggressive cold immersion protocols. The upper ceiling of 104°F opens the unit up as a true dual-therapy system — capable of full cold plunge immersion at one end and a hot soak or warm contrast bath at the other.

This makes the C2 the only model in the standard C-Series that fully supports contrast therapy protocols (alternating cold and heat) in a single unit, without requiring a separate sauna or hot tub in the wellness environment.

The C2 uses the same Balboa Spa Touch 4+ controller and Control My Spa app (iOS and Android) as the C1. Remote temperature adjustment, scheduling, system monitoring, and lighting control are all app-accessible.

The cooling rate for the C2 is 10–12°F per hour — slightly more conservative than the C1's 11–13°F due to the larger water volume managed and the broader temperature range being covered, but the 1.5 HP chiller's greater BTU capacity means it maintains set temperatures more aggressively under load, particularly during consecutive heavy use sessions that add recurring heat load from immersed bodies.

The C2 includes full active heating capability up to 104°F, making it the only standard C-Series model that functions as a genuine contrast therapy system. The Balboa chiller functions bidirectionally — cooling in cold mode and actively heating the water in warm mode.

This means the C2 can be configured for a warm soak immediately before or after cold immersion within the same session, or programmed to alternate between temperature extremes across a weekly protocol. The warm water capability also makes the C2 practical in colder seasons or climates when clients may want the option of a warm recovery soak without a separate system.

The C2 uses dual Iwaki America magnetically coupled centrifugal pumps, each operating on the same no-shaft-seal magnetic drive technology as the C1's single pump. The dual-pump configuration means more water is being moved at a higher flow rate, which produces an audible water movement sound when RiverMode™ Plus is running at medium or high speed — comparable to a gentle to moderate stream or indoor water feature.

The pump mechanism itself, however, remains near-silent by the nature of Iwaki's magnetic drive design. The chiller unit produces a low mechanical hum during active cooling cycles, consistent with a standard HVAC compressor. Overall, the C2 is described by BlueCube as quiet operation and employs anti-vibrational technology to minimize vibration transfer to the frame and surrounding floor or deck surface.

The unit is appropriate for indoor wellness rooms adjacent to living spaces, though clients with extreme noise sensitivity should consider placement away from sleeping areas when River Mode is used at high speed.

Water Flow System

Handcrafted in Redmond, Oregon, the C3 features commercial-grade construction

The C2 is equipped with RiverMode™ Plus — BlueCube's dual-pump, highest flow rate circulation system, and the feature that most definitively distinguishes the C2 from the C1. Two independent ¼ HP Iwaki pumps, each rated at 25.6 gallons per minute, create a combined directional flow through the tub at three adjustable speeds: low, medium, and high.

At high speed, the combined flow rate approaches the full 51.2 GPM output of both pumps simultaneously, producing a strong, directional, river-like current throughout the entire tub interior.

The purpose of this system is specifically engineered: in still water, the human body creates an insulating thermal barrier — a thin layer of warm water that forms at the skin surface as body heat escapes into the water. This layer acts as a buffer between the cold bulk water and the skin, significantly reducing the effectiveness of the cold exposure. RiverMode™ Plus continuously disrupts and strips away this thermal barrier by moving cold water across every surface of the body at all times, ensuring that full-temperature water is always in contact with the skin.

The result is a measurably more intense, more effective, and more consistent cold therapy experience at every session. The three adjustable speeds allow clients to calibrate the flow intensity to their current tolerance level — starting on low for acclimation and progressing to high as their protocol advances.

Beyond the active River Mode flow, the C2 maintains continuous baseline circulation through the Iwaki pump system even when River Mode is not actively engaged. Water never sits still in the C2 at any point — the filtration, ozone sanitation, and temperature management systems all require and depend on continuous water movement to function optimally.

The 24/7 run cycle means that water is always being filtered, always being sanitized, and always being thermally stabilized, so the unit is always ready without any warm-up or conditioning period.

The C2 uses the same35 sq ft pool-grade Pentair 20-micron filter cartridge as the C1 — the same filter surface area, the same filtration fineness, and the same low-maintenance easy-access design. The higher combined flow rate of the dual Iwaki pumps in the C2 means more water volume passes through the filter per hour compared to the C1, which requires that the filter medium remain in good condition to avoid pressure restriction.

BlueCube's recommendation to replace the cartridge every 3–6 months or 10–12 water changes accounts for this higher throughput. An optional commercial-grade skimmer is available as part of the Commercial Upgrade Package — the skimmer provides continuous surface capture of oils, floating organic matter, and environmental debris (particularly relevant for outdoor installations or high-traffic commercial use), reducing the load on the main filter and extending time between filter changes.

The C2 includes the same standard ozone (O₃) automatic sanitation system as the C1 — continuously generating and injecting ozone gas into the water to eliminate bacteria, viruses, and organic contaminants more than 3,000 times faster than chlorine, with no chemical residue. The C2 is also chlorine and bromine capable at 3 PPM.

The Commercial Upgrade Package adds two higher-intensity options: AOP (Advanced Oxidation Process), which combines UV light and ozone for enhanced pathogen neutralization in high-volume environments, and an automated chlorine and pH dosing system that provides fully hands-off, continuous chemical sanitation management for commercial operations where manual dosing is impractical.

Standard residential operation requires no chemical additions — ozone handles all sanitation automatically. Optional low-dose chlorine or bromine at 3 PPM is available for shared or commercial contexts.

No weekly shock treatments, pH testing, or algaecide applications are required under normal residential use. The AOP and automated chlorine drip systems are available exclusively through the Commercial Upgrade Package for high-traffic regulated environments.

Filter cartridge replacement every 3–6 months or 10–12 water changes, whichever comes first. Drain and refill recommended every 2–4 weeks for residential use and as needed for commercial use based on traffic volume. Startup after a water change is the same as the C1 — check unions, fill, prime the filter, and the unit is operational.

The C2 includes a maintenance kit and has the same large, accessible mechanical compartment that can be serviced by any licensed plumber or pool and spa technician. Live U.S. video support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM PST for guidance through any maintenance or troubleshooting procedure.

Placement & Environment

Handcrafted in Redmond, Oregon, the C3 features commercial-grade construction

Level surface capable of supporting the C2's weight — approximately 650+ lbs empty for the 60" Standard configuration, greater when filled. Dedicated 120V, 20A circuit required, with a standard outlet or hardwired pigtail configuration (custom cord length available). GFCI protection required for outdoor outlets.

Minimum 18 inches clearance on all maintenance access sides. Frame dimensions: 92.5" L × 43.5" W × 28.5" H (60" Standard) and98.5" L × 43.5" W × 28.5" H (66" XL). The C2 is wider than the C1 (43.5" vs 37.5") — this should be factored into doorway and corridor measurements for indoor delivery, though the 28.5" height allows the unit to be tilted onto its side to pass through standard doorways.

Fully assembled on arrival, no on-site assembly required.

The C2's outdoor-rated 1.5 HP commercial chiller is engineered to operate in ambient temperatures as low as 20°F. The Line-X® shell, marine-grade frame, hand-insulated plumbing, and insulated cover provide full protection against cold weather damage to the unit structure and components.

No winterization or seasonal shutdown required for outdoor use in cold climates within the 20°F ambient operating range. For climates that regularly fall below 20°F, indoor placement or supplemental insulation around the mechanical components is advisable.
