COLD PLUNGE: BlueCube C1

The BlueCube C1 is the entry point into the BlueCube C-Series — and it carries every material and engineering standard that defines the line. Handcrafted in Redmond, Oregon, the C1's clean, low rectangular profile is purpose-built for serious daily use. It is not a portable tub, not an inflatable unit, and not a consumer product dressed up in wellness branding. The exterior is encased in Line-X® polyurea spray coating — the same 16-mil material used on military vehicles and commercial truck beds — giving it a finish that is simultaneously refined, impact-resistant, UV-stable, and fully weatherproof. At 92.5" long and 37.5" wide, it has the physical presence of permanent wellness infrastructure. This is a cold plunge built to the same structural philosophy as the C2 and C3 above it — the difference is size and flow configuration, not material integrity or build standard. Handcrafted entirely in Redmond, Oregon with locally sourced materials, the C1 is the most accessible entry into BlueCube's lineup without a single compromise in construction quality.

Construction & Materials:

  • Tub Material: 14-gauge 304 stainless steel — non-porous, non-reactive, fully corrosion-resistant interior surface; the same grade widely used in commercial kitchen equipment and medical instrument manufacturing. No acrylic, no plastic, no fiberglass degradation over time. American-made hemp carbon and gel-coated fiberglass tub options available through the Commercial Upgrade Package for non-metal DOH compliance environments
  • Frame: Marine-grade plywood core hand-built at BlueCube's Redmond, Oregon facility, moisture-sealed and structurally engineered for continuous wet-environment use. Exterior fully encased in Line-X® 16-mil polyurea weatherproof coating — seamless, UV-stable, thermally insulative, and impact-resistant
  • Insulation: Line-X® exterior coating provides continuous thermal insulation across the entire frame surface; insulated spa cover included for temperature retention when not in use
  • Plumbing: Pool and spa-grade Schedule 40 PVC throughout — pressure-rated for high flow, high pressure, and sustained temperature differentials; all pipes hand-insulated to minimize thermal loss across circulation runs
  • Origin: Handcrafted entirely in Redmond, OR, USA

Dimensions:

  • 60" Standard Model — Frame: 92.5" L × 37.5" W × 29" H
  • 60" Standard Model — Tub Interior: 60" L × 24" W × 22" H
  • 54" Mini Model — Frame: Available for clients requiring a reduced footprint
  • User Fit: Full neck-depth submersion for users up to approximately 6'5"; seated immersion to shoulder level throughout
  • Clearance Required: Minimum 18" clearance on the component access end and filter access side for routine maintenance; rear can sit flush against wall

Chiller & Temperature:

  • Chiller: Balboa commercial-grade 1 HP chiller with Iwaki magnetic-drive pump — selected for proven industry reliability, established service network, manufacturer warranty support, and seamless integration with the BlueCube control system. Japanese precision compressor technology ensures tighter thermal cycles, more stable temperature hold, and quieter operation than standard compressor designs
  • Temperature Range: 37°F – 70°F — the full functional range of cold plunge therapy protocols, from the most aggressive clinical cold immersion at 37°F through cool contrast and acclimation soaks at 70°F
  • Cooling Rate: 11–13°F per hour from ambient temperature to set point
  • 24/7 Operation: Chiller runs continuously, maintaining set temperature at all times — unit is always ready with no warm-up period required
  • Controls: Balboa SpaTouch 4+ controller with BlueCube app integration (iOS and Android) — remote temperature monitoring and adjustment from anywhere
  • Heating: The C1 does not include a heating element. Maximum temperature ceiling is 70°F. Clients requiring full contrast therapy capability (cold and hot in a single unit) should reference the C2 or C3
  • Noise: Near-silent Iwaki magnetic-drive pump operation — no shaft seals to vibrate, wear, or seize. Chiller fan cycles during active cooling and disengages once set temperature is reached and maintained. Appropriate for indoor wellness rooms, spaces adjacent to living areas, and environments where ambient noise is a priority

Flow System:

  • Constant Circulation: Single-speed Iwaki magnetic-drive pump providing continuous 24/7 active water movement throughout the tub — prevents temperature stratification, keeps filtration and sanitation systems running continuously, and maintains water readiness at all times
  • Thermal Barrier Disruption: Continuous pump-driven circulation keeps water moving against the body surface, providing consistent cold exposure and reducing the warm pocket effect that forms in truly still water
  • River Mode™: The C1 does not include River Mode™ or RiverMode™ Plus. Clients whose protocol specifically requires multi-speed directional flow and full thermal barrier disruption at the highest intensity should reference the C2 (RiverMode™ Plus, dual Iwaki pumps) or C3 (RiverMode™, 3-speed single pump). The C1's constant single-speed circulation delivers reliable, consistent cold immersion for clients whose priority is performance, simplicity, and proven daily-use reliability

Filtration & Sanitation:

  • Filtration: 35 sq ft pool-grade Pentair filter cartridge rated at 20 microns — captures fine debris, particulate, skin cells, and larger microorganisms; commercial filter surface area for high throughput with minimal pressure restriction
  • Sanitation: Automatic ozone (O₃) sanitation running continuously — ozone eliminates bacteria, viruses, and organic contaminants more than 3,000 times faster than chlorine, produces no chemical residue, and performs optimally in cold water. Standard operation requires no chemical additions
  • Chemicals: No chemicals required for standard residential use — ozone handles all sanitation automatically. Low-dose chlorine or bromine supplementation available at 3 PPM for shared or commercial use contexts
  • Water Changes: Every 2–4 weeks recommended for residential use
  • Filter Changes: Every 3–6 months, or approximately every 10–12 water changes depending on use frequency. Filter cartridges are easy-access and replaceable without tools

Electrical & Operation:

  • Voltage: 110/120 V
  • Circuit: 20 A dedicated circuit required; GFCI plug included standard — outdoor installations require GFCI-protected outlet per NEC electrical code. Unit can also be hardwired (pigtailed) for permanent indoor installations
  • Running Amperage: Approximately 13 A during active cooling; significantly reduced once set temperature is reached and maintenance mode is engaged
  • Energy Efficiency: Once the set temperature is reached, the chiller operates in maintenance mode with a substantially lower continuous energy draw — designed for economical 24/7 operation

Smart Controls:

  • App Control: Balboa BWA™ ControlMySpa app — iOS and Android compatible. Remote temperature monitoring, set point adjustment, scheduling, and system status from anywhere with an internet connection. Pre-chill the tub before waking up, confirm temperature from another room, or adjust settings remotely without going to the unit
  • Controller: Balboa SpaTouch 4+ onboard controller for direct manual operation
  • Portal: BlueCube U.S.-based client support portal with live video support access, replacement parts ordering, and maintenance documentation

Placement & Environment:

  • Indoor/Outdoor: Fully weatherproof for year-round indoor or outdoor placement with no modification required. Line-X® coating is UV-stable, impact-resistant, and fully sealed against rain, snow, and temperature extremes
  • Cold Climate Operation: Rated to operate in ambient temperatures as low as –5°F. No winterization or seasonal shutdown required for outdoor installations in cold climates within this range
  • Placement Note: Shade recommended for outdoor installations to reduce ambient heat load on the chiller. Insulated spa cover included — cover should remain on when tub is not in use to preserve temperature and water quality
  • Indoor Access: At 29" height, the C1 can be tilted onto its side to pass through standard interior doorways and narrow hallways — indoor placement is achievable in most residential layouts without structural modification

Delivery & Setup:

The BlueCube C1 ships fully assembled and palletized in a protective freight crate directly from BlueCube's manufacturing facility in Redmond, Oregon. There is no on-site assembly of any kind required. The unit arrives as a complete, finished, operational system — the only steps between delivery and first use are placement, electrical connection, and water fill.

Shipping & Lead Time

The C1 ships with complimentary curbside freight delivery within the continental United States. Standard lead time from confirmed order placement is 3–6 weeks depending on configuration and finish selection. A specific updated timeline will be confirmed by MERIDIAN at the time of order confirmation.

Placement

The C1 frame measures 29" in height, which allows the unit to be tilted onto its side to pass through standard interior doorways and navigate narrow hallways where necessary — making indoor placement achievable in most residential layouts without structural modification. A minimum of four movers with moving dollies is recommended for safe transport from the delivery point to the final placement location. The unit weighs 650 lbs empty; filled weight is substantially greater and should be factored into structural assessments for elevated decks or upper-level interior floors before the unit is filled. Once positioned, the C1 does not require permanent anchoring of any kind.

MERIDIAN Coordination

MERIDIAN manages every aspect of the delivery and placement process on the client's behalf. The client confirms a delivery date and installation location — every logistical detail from that point is handled by MERIDIAN through our certified installation partner network. The client does not coordinate with freight carriers, manage delivery scheduling, or arrange placement logistics at any stage.

Startup

Once the C1 is positioned and the electrical connection is complete, startup takes approximately 10–15 minutes. Check all unions for tightness, fill the tub, prime the filter, and plug the unit into the dedicated 120V / 20A circuit. The system is operational immediately upon fill completion. BlueCube recommends allowing the chilling motor to settle for 2–3 hours following any tilting during transport before powering on for the first time. From that point, the C1 runs continuously — cooling to the set temperature at 11–13°F per hour from ambient and maintaining that temperature 24 hours a day without any additional setup or preparation required before each use.

BLUECUBE C1 — CUSTOMIZATION:

Exterior Color:

The BlueCube C1 exterior is finished in BlueCube's patented Line-X® polyurea coating — the same 16-mil material used on military vehicles and commercial truck beds. This is not a paint, not a powder coat, and not a film wrap. It is a seamless, fully bonded shell applied across the entire frame exterior that is impact-resistant, UV-stable, scratch-resistant, and fully weatherproof regardless of indoor or outdoor placement. The coating will not fade, chip, peel, or crack over time. Color is built into the material itself, not applied on top of it.

The four standard color options available on the C1 are:

  • White
  • Black
  • Grey
  • Beige

Wood Deck:

The C1 does not include a wood deck option in its standard configuration. The top surface of the C1 is finished in the same Line-X® polyurea coating as the frame exterior, consistent across whichever of the four standard colors the client selects.

Powder-Coated Screens:

Every C1 delivered through MERIDIAN includes powder-coated screens as a standard inclusion. Powder coating is a dry finishing process that applies a durable, uniform protective layer to the metal screen surfaces surrounding the mechanical access panels — more resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, and corrosion than conventional liquid paint finishes. The powder-coated screens contribute to the overall refined, cohesive appearance of the unit while providing long-term protection to the filtration and pump access panels that are part of the C1's daily operational environment.

Foot Pegs:

Every C1 delivered through MERIDIAN includes foot pegs as a standard inclusion. Foot pegs are mounted inside the tub interior and provide a stable, fixed surface for the user's feet during immersion — supporting natural body positioning, preventing forward slide during a session, and contributing to overall comfort and control during cold exposure. For clients new to cold immersion, foot pegs provide meaningful positional stability that directly supports longer and more consistent sessions.

Reverse Plumbing:

The C1 is available with a reverse plumbing configuration. In the standard factory build, the mechanical components, filtration access, and plumbing connections are oriented in BlueCube's default configuration. Reverse plumbing repositions the access end of the unit to the opposite side, allowing the C1 to be placed precisely as the installation space requires — particularly relevant where a wall, architectural feature, built-in cabinetry, or design element on one side of the intended location makes the standard orientation impractical or visually undesirable. Reverse plumbing does not affect the performance, flow rate, filtration efficiency, or mechanical accessibility of the unit in any way. It is a placement-driven specification that must be confirmed with MERIDIAN at the time of system configuration, as it is built into the unit at the manufacturing stage and cannot be changed after the order has been placed with BlueCube.

Regulatory & Safety:

  • Handcrafted in the USA — designed, fabricated, assembled, and tested in Redmond, Oregon
  • GFCI plug included as standard
  • NEC electrical code compliant
  • Field-serviceable by licensed pool and spa technicians — no proprietary components, no factory-only service requirements
  • Commercial Upgrade Package available: adds AOP (ozone + UV) or automated chlorine drip sanitation, commercial skimmer, non-metal tub material options, and full DOH documentation and build sheets for Department of Health approval in regulated commercial environments

Why Meridian Immersion System:

The BlueCube C1 is the most accessible entry point in BlueCube's C-Series lineup — and it arrives with the same marine-grade plywood frame, the same Line-X® military-grade weatherproof shell, the same 20-micron commercial filtration, the same automatic ozone sanitation, the same Iwaki magnetic-drive pump technology, and the same made-in-USA provenance as every unit above it. What the C1 delivers is the complete BlueCube performance standard — consistent 37°F chilling, continuous 24/7 circulation, near-silent operation, and a construction quality engineered for decades of daily use — in the most space-efficient and straightforward configuration in the line. For the MERIDIAN Immersion client establishing their premium wellness foundation, the C1 is not a compromise. It is the right unit, precisely specified for where they are, built to outlast everything else in the category.
